Uncoil for macOS · requires macOS 14 or later
I don't see Uncoil in my menu bar
Uncoil lives entirely in the menu bar, with no Dock icon and no main window. Look for the prawn near the right side of the menu bar, next to the system icons. On MacBooks with a notch, macOS silently hides menu bar icons when the bar is full: close another menu bar app or hold ⌘ and drag icons to rearrange, and the prawn will appear.
The camera isn't working
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and make sure Uncoil is enabled. If it's not listed, launch a session with “Move now” and macOS will ask for permission. You can also use Uncoil without a camera. Sessions will show a manual Done button instead of counting reps.
Reps aren't counting
Stand back so your head, shoulders and elbows are all in frame, and line yourself up with the outline during the brief calibration step. Big, deliberate movements count best. It's fine if your hands go off the top of the frame at full stretch — Uncoil expects that and the rep still counts. If your framing is awkward (small room, low camera), press Start anyway. Counting may be patchier, but it works.
Changing the schedule, hours or days
Click the prawn → gear icon → General. You can set the interval, working hours and active weekdays. The Movement tab controls session length and which exercises appear; Personality controls the tone, the voice, and how insistent the interruptions are.
It's interrupting my calls
It shouldn't. Uncoil detects Zoom, Teams, Webex and FaceTime calls and waits for them to finish. If your meeting app isn't detected, check Settings → Interruptions and tell us which app you use so we can add it.
Turning the voice on or off
Settings → Personality → “Speak lines and coaching cues aloud.” The coach is a recorded voice that ships inside the app, so it works entirely offline and sounds the same on every Mac. Use Hear it on the same tab for a sound check.
Where is my data?
On your Mac and nowhere else. Uncoil has no network access at all. See the privacy policy for the details.
